Days on the Trip

Thursday - Up, Up and Away!

Meet at Parks early in the morning on Thursday. Load up on charter buses and head out for LAX. Board multiple flights to Depart for Washington Dulles International Airport. Transfer to Williamsburg for the beginning of our stay in historic Southern Virginia. We will travel by bus, plane, and foot.

Friday - 1607 Settlement to Revolution
Experience Jamestowne Settlement, a recreation of the first established English settlement. Tour the Indian village, the fort with live interaction, and the replica ships. After a lunch break, Historic Jamestowne Island to see firsthand the actual colony site and archeological discoveries. We will then vista the Glasshouse. Located at the original site, artisans with demonstrate the same 17th century glass making techniques to create beautiful works of art. In late afternoon we are off to Yorktown where we will stand on the battlefields where American and British troops fought the pivotal battle of the Revolutionary War that resulted in the British surrender. After dinner an evening walking tour of Williamsburg.

Saturday - Revolutionary Life
A guided tour of Williamsburg’s restored Colonial areas include sites like the Governor’s palace, blacksmith shop, powder magazine, wheel wright, book bindery, wood crafters, silver shop and more. Members will have free time in the afternoon to explore, eat and shop on their own.

Sunday - Presidents and Marines
The morning will begin at Monticello, the home of Thomas Jefferson. The Club will take a guided tour of the original house and then explore the grounds, gardens and underground passages. After lunch we will tour the National Museum of the Marine Corps. Work our way through boot camp, the shooting range and then discover the history of WWI, WWII, the Korean and Vietnam wars. That evening we will catch our first glimpse of Washington, D.C. with a night tour of monuments.

Monday – Wednesday - Explore all Washington D.C. Offers
Three full days of touring await us. Places we plan visiting include the Museum of Natural History, the American History Museum, the National Air & Space Museum, the National Archives, the Jefferson Memorial, the Capitol, the Supreme Court, the Library of Congress, Arlington National Cemetery (we will participate in a wreath laying ceremony), MLK and FDR memorials, and Mt. Vernon, home of George Washington. On Wednesday we will take a walking tour of the memorials, the Korean War Veteran’s Memorial, the Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial, the Lincoln Memorial, the WWII Memorial and Washington Monument. Late Wednesday afternoon we will depart Washington D.C. for Gettysburg and a night time walking battlefield tour and ghost stories.

Thursday - Civil War
After breakfast we will tour the Gettysburg National Military Park in depth. We will take a 2-hour guided tour of the battlefield where the Union Army under General Meade defeated the Confederate Army under General Robert E. Lee. Then tour the visitor center and learn more about how slavery affected the outocme of the war. After our tour we will head to Lancaster for dinner then on to the hotel in Philly.

Friday - Anchors Away
Today we head into Philly to visit the Constitutional Center in the morning. Then off to the historic USS New Jersey Battle Ship. We will take a guided tour of the ship then have time to explore on our own. That evening we sit down for our farewell party.

Saturday - Liberty, Freedom and CheesesteaksOn our last day we will explore the restored buildings and sites of America’s birthplace. Among our stops will be the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, the Franklin museum, and the Bourse.  We then board the planes to return home.

The tour cost includes the entire price to be paid to the carrier for air transportation including taxes, government fees and baggage charges, coach transportation, daily breakfast and dinner, one lunch, hotel accommodations, sightseeing per itinerary, all entrance fees, admission tickets, gratuities, taxes and baggage fees, and all other travel related expenditures.
